I work as an independent Hackney off the streets/ranks etc.

I do not do badly, but have often mulled over the (financial remuneration return), as to whether I would be much better off or not if I was on data base/radio.

To get what I do now, I would have to take another £100 to cover admin + fuel. So I really need to take an extra £215 to give me a one'er. Now I am balancing this with the fact that if I was taking this extra £215, then during that time I would at sometime be working off the streets earning xxx. Also on the plus side I do not get any false calls. Listening to the other Hacks, they do not seem to get the same or as much work as the P.H

Any thoughts on this?

Some offices may resent hacks but will still be happy to take the data rent but other offices will give hacks a fair crack of the whip.I suppose the best way would be to try it for yourself for a couple of weeks.

If you are doing OK why bother. You will just be working harder for less money per hour. If you go on the radio you can bet that you won't be able to pick up all the fares that you do now.

Have you considered taxicall?

Jimbo is it's biggest fan.

Everyone will give you conflicting stories on this.
Sometimes the only way to find out is to "suck it and see"
Try it for a couple of weeks. If it's not worth it, hand the radio back and walk away.

Cheers guys, I waited a few days to see if anyone posted to say that it was the best thing that they had ever done (data/radio).

Ohh well that did not happen  , so I guess I will stay as was :)

Regards John

Unless your manor is mobbed with street work I would consider working with a circuit.

At the end of the day if you have a choice of the ranks, the streets and the radio you should be well catered for.

It might cost you a ton a week, but even if you only take an extra £150 a week, that's £2,500 a year more in your bin.

And if you don't take anymore, then just give back the radio.
