It has been suggested by some in the Manchester hackney carriage trade that Private hire drivers should have their license fee increased substantially, in order to pay for the enforcing of, wait for it, "Private hire drivers". Substantially, has been mooted as being in the region of a 70% increase in fees, in line with the hike attributed to hack owners paying for Marshals. Rather controversial but what do you think? Regards JD |

If an attempt was ever made to try and implement such an idea then a court case is bound to follow. Regards JD |

They should be charged the same as a hack, and have extra tests be all 1 colour yellow, so they can be spotted from a distance, all new drivers should have a knowledge test ,all councils should make sure that they have all the tax details and national insurance numbers of all owners and drivers, if they did this how many would be on the street??? as no details no licence.
Sorry Sussex but in some areas they are like a plague.
Personally I would like to see PH scraped |

But would I be correct in saying that most councils issue combined badges, ours does. But I still say all PH should be made hack then we can all sing the same song |

Regards JD Well JD, it might be worth pushing for, it would make things a dam sight easier, then all we would need to do is get rid of all the out dated rules and regs by re writing the rule book for the modern era, but going by the meeting of minds post its going to take a lot of work |

The implimentation of a single tier system would decimate everyone currently involved in the trade, as it would allow those previously excluded to become involved. B. Lucky

B. Lucky ![]() Well GA, there may be a few casualties on the cards, but after searching the web, I have come to the conclusion that only the UK has PH vehicles. So if a single tier works in the rest of the world why not here. What would happen if the muppets in Europe decided that's what will happen and they tell our government to implement it strait away. |

Well funny enough NALEO also want a complete new modern act. It seams the only people who don't want a new act are those who fear change. Regards JD |

I wonder how many PHs would want to comply with the DDA and buy a WAV? |

Guss They would not have to buy a wav, just change to hackney, then in a short while the numbers would sort themselves out |
