What do you reckon about all Taxis having Attack Indicator Aerials fitted as standard ? Meaning if you are under attack or if you feel that you are in a hostile situation, you can activate a switch in your cab that will illuminate an aerial or such like on the roof of your vehicle so that the Police and other Taxis will know you need assistance. This gives the police a chance to calmly pull you over and take control of any nasty situations. Steve |

If the Police can take their eyes off the blonde in the mini-skirt
But yeah WHY NOT .................. its not about whether things will work or not .................. when it comes to driver safety anything and everything is better than nothing. B. Lucky

It may work taxis, You could have a small blue flashing beacon fitted and once activated you could say that's the police behind and watch them scarper Or an aerial tip that glows red or yellow when in need of assistance. The best thing to do is have it incorporated into the top of a top sign as the power is already there, it would work with wavs as well from there hat here is another idea, and that's have a high pitched alarm fitted and that could also be fitted to the top sign or hat. |

If that doesn't bring attention, then nothing will.

In London the buses all have attack alarms fitted which sound like a Police siren. Of course the 'can't get another jobs' set them off everytime they pass one of their fellow 'can't get another jobs' thus rendering the alarm useless as everyone ignores them when they really do have an emergency. |

An aerial could be snapped off, instead, how about the lights on the exterior (front and back) all flashed and the horn sounded once the panic button had been pressed? |

CCTV as good as it is won't alert someone who is passing the vehicle that the driver is having difficulties with a passenger. |

Well OK ...these are simply suggestions we could use.. Maybe a blue bulb or bulbs in our toplights...that light up from a switch inside the car ? It is just to prompt Police and others something is wrong in the car. Or a light displaying the word Integrated in the top light. Maybe a siren would escalate the situation...I was thinking a more discreet device that can only be seen from outside the car.. Just Ideas............ Do you think it would not be a good idea to make this standard countrywide ? Regards Steve |

http://www.code3pse.com/productdtl.asp? ... d=7&id=246 http://www.code3pse.com/productdtl.asp? ... d=8&id=195 I was thinking along these lines, operated by the driver, with the light on the roof or top sign |

10 or 12 years ago a Sefton driver put together a driver's personal alarm kit, it was a small box that fitted on the roof of a hackney which flashed on and off, inside was a high-pitched alarm fitted in the rear of the cab, when it was in operation you had to cover your ears and evacuate the vehicle,....... it was operated by a switch fitted by the driver.... they were advertised in Taxi Talk....... he made 100 kits....... and sold 10 ......
