OK...we are supposed to be on the same side here !
And yet some of us pull each other to bits !
It is all down to the politics isn't it ? Some associations / organisations think we should do one thing and others think we should do another thing.
All this is based on minority organisations of the public transport trade that we call the Taxi trade, built up of HC drivers and PH drivers.
BUT the fact that has got to be first is that we are all drivers !
The drivers that choose to be ruled by operators are PH drivers and the drivers that work as pure sole traders are HC been able to pick passengers up from the street within there licensing district...

Well why not have a national agreement that will benefit all drivers. ?
The way I see this discussion board is that views are made on Regional views and not nationally...
Hence creating argument from area to area....but come on ....Why not work together on a countrywide basis ? and have legislation that suits us all as drivers ?
I might be wrong but the only member who speaks up as a national spokesman is JD....Well he has the right to his opinion and has brought to our attention the acts that the "Meeting of Minds" that has been discussed in our absence has near decided on our behalf. Period.
So maybe WE as drivers need a spokesman who speaks and acts on behalf of all drivers and to be honest I can not see any association or organisation bringing me solid facts why I should be part of it !
All this forum shows is that the anonymous JD speaks what we as drivers want and need to hear.
If the other associations want to be herd at least answer his questions !
But by been silent is infact a downfall for people wanting to join.
Maybe JD will reveal his anonymity to us.....why not....Your view and opinions are very constructive and you always have valid points to make.
Are your intentions to make National representation for us as drivers ?
So there you go !!!!!
Only My opinion again, it might mean nothing but please feel free to comment on it as I know you should.

Regards Steve

I am only a Taxi driver so please do not bombard me with political issues....I might not answer them with the justice they deserve.
In fact I might not answer them at all.....

:D  :-o  8) :P

What you had your wellys on again GBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC

Taxis you keep the praise coming, If it where not for JD, there is a shed load of facts I would not know as they dont seem to be published in the PH and taxi monthly, and he has given us ammunition to fight councils with, Carlisle springs to mind.
In my book he is only second to sliced bread, and I hop he continues to seek out all the injustices, and irregularities and rectifies them.

In my opinion I think it doesn't matter what user names we have on here, it's the views we have, and the factual basis we come to such views.

I'm led to believe that many 100s more read these forums than post on it, so maybe they are more interested in whatever little substance comes out of TDO rather than the personalities.

As for a national voice, well I'm not sure the taxi/PH trade will ever get to that stage, as there are far too many hidden agendas.

And far too many folks would want to be chief, who IMO would struggle to be an indian.

I'm sure the disabled community, who have more difficulty in getting wheelchair accessible taxis now, would say something different.

I'm also pretty certain the citizens of edinburgh really appreciate the legal advice their having to pay for.

When all else fails why not wheel out the disabled equality card?

I think with you the penny hasn't yet dropped because most if not all on TDO are fully aware of the daily custom obtained from disabled persons confined to a wheelchair. If you are saying Carlisle station is a special case and it has more than its fair share of disabled wheelchair passengers then I wouldn't be surprised if most on here considered that statement a crock o chit.

Then again you played the disabled card in your failed court case so nothing surprises me with you.

I didnt have a court case.

The established motto of the NTA is set out in its articles, these are available on the website.

I chose to insult as I guessed I was right, which doesnt make it an insult if its fact.

There must be a reason why a man with your obvious knowledge chooses to sit in the shadows, I was summising there were personal issues.

My Mrs has however just told me I am no oil painting either, which as you can imagine will be treated with the contempt such a statement deserves.

Its mentioned in the Button book on page 424 and in a number of articles on here by yourself.

It concerns a section of the 76 act (section 48 (1) (a) (i) regarding private hire vehicles that look like hackney carriages I think.

So what about it? You must have had a reason for asking otherwise you wouldn't have asked?

I've never read Jim Buttons book, either volume.
