You recall that Tenner I promised regarding the illuminated roof signs APPEAL. Well they threw in the towel on Thursday so the tenner stays in my pocket.

When its published I'll post the link.

But there was a very interesting succesfull challenge from stockport cabbies against the council in May, regarding the coulour of the cabs and what livery should be allowed to be displayed. Stockport Express might have the story.

Best wishes

JD

By the way is this clown who posts as T also known as scanner?

Now that's a shame. But as it was a draw really, just send me a fiver.

Do you not think the reason why he pulled out of this action was because he thought his chance of winning was pretty slim. lol

I spoke to him several days before the court case, he was [edited by admin] off by the fact he had had very little financial support from the Private hire sector. I suppose that was one of the reasons he decided against fighting it.

Then again perhpas Mr Rowland and his Barrister friend didn't instill too much confidence in getting the right result. Do you think it will warrant a mention in the next edition of private hire monthly?

Best wishes

I suspect that may be the prime reason for calling it a day. His legal chaps may have well agreed with the council to pay only their own costs.

If he went to court and lost, then he would have had to pay the lot. Yet if he won, then others who haven't helped him would also benefit by being able to have roof lights.

In a way, I'm pleased it didn't get to the High Court. If it had, and he lost, then a precedent would have been set. Which could have been repeated throughout the land.

And we wouldn't want that, would we?
