How come you can't get a receipt for paying the charge for using the Dartford crossing? They say that there is no obligation to issue a receipt. How can this be right? |

Sounds like bullocks to me. If they take money, they have to issue a reciept. No obligation to issue a receipt, then no obligation to pay. |

It's not the amount, it's the principal. If one of your customers asks you for a receipt, do you refuse? |

If one of my customers asks for a receipt it does not inconvenience 1000’s of other motorists |

If a receipt is requested it should be issued, regardless of the inconvenience to the company involved and regardless of what others think of requesting one. It may even be illegal to refuse. £1 may not be much but if you pay it 3 or 4 times a day every day that's around a grand a year you can't claim back through your books. |

If an expense is legitimate you can claim it receipt or not. In most cases the punter pays the toll anyway. |

The punter may not be in the vehicle. anyway it is not just taxis that don't get receipts, van drivers, lorry drivers, no one gets one. Other crossings automatically issue receipts direct from the machine. You put your money in and the receipt is issued automatically so there is no hold up at all. |

Expenses without receipts. I can see my next tax return could have £20,000 for Dartford crossing fees but sorry they don't issue receipts but thats ok isn't it.

I generally use the exact change lane BUT I noticed on the news the other week that the charges are going up to £1.50 for cars which will cause far more hold ups since it is more difficult to find £1.50 in change than to produce a £1 coin
