HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Lets hope its a good one for all concerned.

We had an eventful 2007 and no doubt 2008 will be much of the same fare but what's your "NEW Years Resolution"?

I would like the Secretary of state for Transport to reflect on the fact that legislation enacted in 1847 just isn't cutting the mustard in 2008 and that new legislation will be introduced to reflect conditions that prevail in the 21st century.

And I'll drink to that.

Whats yours? And please dont say a pint of lager? lol

Regards

JD

To see all PH vehicles restricted to 5 years of age, and all there drivers knowledge tested and meters fitted to them all.

Bex's to feck up LTI good and proper, and there for let London's cabbys have a choice of cabs

Both governments to come up with legislation that we can all understand and in plain English, so that JD can actually go out and earn a crust without having to sort out ancient rules and laws that councils seem to change at will

That's it for now but i will more than likely think of other things to add

So a happy and prosperous new year to all on TDO :D and to thanks Dusty and Alex for providing this site =D> =D> =D>

Oh I forgot I may be able to have a pint :?: not had a drink since July

I forgot Mrs Sussex to stop nagging him
GBC may get his wish of Ell Tell disappearing :?: :?: :?:

To see some unions/associations reflect exactly what drivers want and need, rather than what some unions/associations think they want and need.

To enjoy seeing the unlicensed brigade dabble with this licensing lark for the first time. :D

To see no driver killed by punters. [-o<

To hope and pray the credit crunch doesn't crunch the taxi/PH trade. [-o<

And I have a feeling in my water that some sort of new act might just come along this year, and the words taxi and private hire might just be in it.

My wishes for 2008 is for our council to realise that flooding the town with more and more drivers and cars is not doing either the consumers or the trade any good

For Lincolnshire police to start treating taxi drivers as human beings

For my drivers to start treating me as a human beng  and to start understanding that you have to compete with the competition not whinge and moan as they take our trade of us because they are too inflexible over price and working hours !

For the government to realise there is a recession on !!

For the government to realise that importing thousands of taxi drivers from the indian subcontinent is not actually helping the British economy that much. My apologies if that sounds racist but it is a major issue in this part of Britain

For certain gmb union reps to actually grasp reality not a fantasy socialist world  or at least stop putting those fantasies down on paper :-o :D

For there to be no deaths or serious injuries to taxi drivers over the festive period

And for a certain local taxi firm whose drivers have managed to kill one person and write four cars off in the last 6 months as well as getting away with rank jumping dirty tricks campaigns using unlicensed vehicles and undercutting everyone else with by charging 50p a mile on some jouneys to go out of business and stop giving the rest of the trade a bad name

And heres wishing everyone else on here a happy new year and i hope the recession isn't biting around your neck of the woods

My resolution for this year is the same as the last 10 years, that all the associations( National) and unions..... continue to sit around the table..... and with one voice fight for the rights of the owners and drivers .

Isn't there a contradiction in terms there though because the needs of the differing parts of the trade Drivers . Owners hackney and PH are not neccessarily the same

It's amazing how many issues are the same for both sides of the trade.... and the rest they will have to learn to compromise .

Yes - to put it in as few words as possible, I'd like to see the powers that be at least commit to root and branch reform, but to be honest I can't see that happening, this year at least. :?
