A journey yesterday from Sheffield Railway station to the Sheffield Arena cost £9.90 in a hackney, and the return in a PHV cost £5. 80 I wonder why.

It's about 3.1 miles from the station and about 2.9 miles back.

Up to £35,000 for a TX4 as opposed to up to £12,000 for a Skoda.

I think in the main legitimate private hire companies have cheaper fares than hacks, unless of course if you live in Lincoln where they charge six pounds per half mile. lol

That's what was charged by one private hire driver in Lincoln.

Strictly come dancing live? heavy traffic getting to arena, therefore waiting time kicked in?

My wife and daughter went. 45 minutes Lincoln to Meadowhall, 30 minutes for the one mile to the arena.
Not rocket science is it? (although rocketry is engineering, not science)

[quote="jimboNot rocket science is it? (although rocketry is engineering, not science)[/quote]

engineers can't build rockets alone there is a lot of Science and mathematics involved !

On a more serious note most people when comparing fares tend to "forget" about the heavy traffic

and as for Lincoln private hire well if the idiot that abandoned his car in the middle of the main pick up/ drop off point at the top of the high street in Stamford is anything to go by they haven't got much up top so he probably couldn't work it out properly
