Taxi Briefing Notes – John Smiths Aintree Grand National 2008.

This document is intended to provide general advice to licensed
Taxis from Liverpool and Sefton for the 2008 John Smith’s Grand National. Please note that the road closures on Melling Road, Greenwich Road and Seeds Lane are there for safety and do not provide free access to any vehicles other than Emergency Services and residents only. Please respect these closures which operate on all three days of racing.
Also, on Saturday only, any Taxi accessing the closure on Warbreck Moor / Park Lane must be a licensed Hackney Cab intending to pick up from the official ranks ONLY. No picking up of passengers may take place in any other location other than on the rank. Please be patient whilst ranking. Keep all doors locked until at the front of rank to collect. Taxi Licensing & Police will be present to enforce the requirements of the traffic management plan. Any pre-booked fares should be directed to the Adams Self-Store facility on Bridle Road for collection.
These Taxi facilities are in place for your benefit. Please respect the direction of all traffic stewards at all times, else the facility may be removed in future years. The plan may be subject to change at any time under the discretion of the Event Traffic Management Co-ordinator should any incident occur requiring this eventuality.

Thursday 3rd April 2008
It is the intention at the end of racing on this day to maintain safety and minimise disruption to the general public, at the same time as facilitating race goers leaving the event. Any road closures required will be kept to a minimum with the intention of holding traffic only. Road closures will be at Ormskirk Road junction Park Lane and Ormskirk Road junction Topham Drive.
Liverpool Taxi’s – will be allowed to rank in the bus lane on the East side of Warbreck Moor.

Sefton Taxi’s – will be allowed to rank on the South side of Park Lane.
Please ensure that U-Turns are not carried out at the Park Lane junction.

Friday 4th April 2008
It is the intention at the end of racing on this day to maintain safety and minimise disruption to the general public, at the same time as facilitating race goers leaving the event.
Road Closures will be implemented on Ormskirk Road at the end of the event, also Park Lane at Bridle Road.
The closure from the north will be at Ormskirk Road Topham Drive where vehicles will be diverted back along Ormskirk Road.
Liverpool Taxi’s – at the end of the event will be allowed to rank in the bus lane on the East side of Warbreck Moor. In addition they may also park on the West side of Warbreck Moor from Park Lane to Rugby Road, to assist maintain a flow of taxi’s from the event.

Please ensure that U-Turns are not carried out at the Park Lane junction.

Sefton Taxi’s – at the end of the event will be allowed to rank on the South side of Park Lane. In addition they may also park on the North side of Park Lane prior to the crown of the Bridge to Parkfield Avenue.
Please ensure that U-Turns are not carried out at the Park Lane junction.
Sefton Taxi’s will be allowed through the road closure at Park Lane to access the rank. Please ensure that U-Turns are not carried out at the Park Lane junction.

Saturday 5th April 2008
It is the intention at the end of racing on this day to maintain safety and minimise disruption to the general public, at the same time as facilitating race goers leaving the event. Road Closures will be implemented at the following locations;
Ormskirk Road/Topham Drive
Park Lane/Bridle Road
Warbreck Moor/Black Bull
Warbreck Moor/Albany Road
Greenwich Road/Albany Road
Greenwich Road/Longmoor Lane
Seeds Lane/Longmoor Lane

Liverpool Taxi’s – at the end of the event will be allowed to rank in the bus lane on the East side of Warbreck Moor. In addition they may also park on the West side of Warbreck Moor from Park Lane to Rugby Road, to supply a constant feed to the rank on the East side. Access will be allowed for taxis along Warbreck Moor via Longmoor Lane/Long Lane into Hall Lane via the closure at Warbreck Moor/Albany Road.
Please ensure that U-Turns are not carried out at the Park Lane junction.

Liverpool Taxi’s also have rank on Longmoor Lane approach to Seeds Lane adjacent to the Cemetery on Saturday Only.
Sefton Taxi’s – at the end of the event will be allowed to rank on the South side of Park Lane. In addition they may also park on the North side of Park Lane prior to the crown of the Bridge to Parkfield Avenue, to supply a constant feed to the rank on the South side of Park Lane. Sefton Taxi’s will be allowed to access the road closure at Park Lane.

Please ensure that U-Turns are not carried out at the Park Lane junction.

Road closures will be put in place from 1600 hours on all three days
