Bus brings customers to village pubs Licensees in Somerset are expecting to benefit from new trade thanks to a local bus service between villages. The Nippy Bus is a 16-seater vehicle that will travel across south Somerset from Somerset to Crewkerne and collect customers until 2am. Funded by a private firm, the service will be available from September and will offer 18 to 35 year olds a fare of around £4.50 as opposed to £20 in a taxi. As well as providing disabled access, those behind the project are sure the bus will help alleviate some of the problems at kicking-out time. Dave Flegg, licensee at the Marston Inn in Marston Magna, Somerset, said: “We’re right in between Sparkford and Crewkerne so the bus will pass by our front door. If it’s done well this could improve trade because virtually everyone who walks through the door has to think about driving to the pub or the expense of a taxi home.” |

Are you saying that a group of 18 to 35 year olds will get a coach to the pubs and at 2.00am come home sober?

That age group, and that time of night, would lead even the most scenical to assume they would be out of their minds. As, in my opinion, would be the driver of the bus for taking them.

at the moment they go home on tractors not taxis or private hire there aint any. RECIPE FOR DISASTER? i DONT THINK SO lets see how it pans out. |

Absolute spiffing idea,one can now go out and leave the roller at home. I do not mind being conveyed by a bus back the the chateau,in fact mixing with the locals,will help my spouse and myself to revert back to the ancestoral roots,at the same time helping out some chappy to earn a few poonds. Maybe if some private hire chappies and chappesses thought about this previously,they could have had a jolly good living, Yours Lord Pontosy III. YIKEN |

well well guest you sit there & over several posts you spout youre ancient garbage proves that you have gone back to youre roots the only word that proves that point prehistoric as for the general point a bus may be cheaper but dont drop you off at youre door unlike a good taxi driver does |

In our ancestors time you would be whipped for slating my good family name. You chappies or chappesses,should take a leaf out of our book and realise that that one must help out the peasant populace so that they too could have some sort of grog on the table.
