Uncle Terry has asked me to post this interesting tale.

Regards
BB

Last October i received a call from a member regarding being stopped and charged with using a mobile whilst driving at Heathrow. This member was adamant that he was doing no such thing, I invited him too meet me with the relevant documentation, upon reading it it was clear too me that the Police were at it again! Well its ok knowing it but how do we deal with it? Firstly check his membership, and hes upto date then meet with our Legal officer and discuss representation, obviously this could prove expensive, we dont want a solicitor on this we need a Barrister, fortunately our legal officer has enough knowledge of wrong doing and agrees to roll out a barrister. After a couple of ajournments, a normal tactic for the Police, it pushes up costs. Today in a London court the Police case is thrown out with the "comment there are far too many inconsistencies in the polices evidence" So what you might say, well for one what driver could afford such expert representation, if he could afford it how could he find it ? [no win no fee briefs are renowned for their inadequacys] easy be in the GMBPDBs! Cost to our member £2.10p a week [what a rip off] This peace of mind could be yours of course so why not join now?? Oh and by the way this member is Jewish, i am sometimes accused by ignorant specimens being a racist, really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS had this driver lost this case he could possibly been banned from driving and then lost his PCO licence! worth thinking about???????????

The lesson only imbeciles ignore UNIONISATION!

I must admit, i'm comming round to the idea of joining the GMB.
Just a quick comment on the above case, I find it very hard to believe that the police would stop you for useing a mobile if you was'nt.

JD,

TDO is a remarkable site, although I do not post on here to recruit, the arena the site opens for the GMB PDB is extensive. The site also helps our members with the extensive knowledge base. I would like to thank all the admin of TDO for your efforts.

I will put your suggestion to our Nat Committe, air and water on standby for MR F

Regards
BB

A good reason to join the GMB PDP? Nope, still can't think of one.

But if I had been stopped for talking on a hand held mobile when I had not, I would have produced my itemised bill to prove that I had not been using it at the time.

Mr Cabbyman,

I was stating that my main reason for posting on this site was not to recruit, If it happens, hey ho

The site is with out a doubt the best around at present, to meet other people in the trade, swap experiences and assist each other where possible.

Regards
BB

I'm pretty sure the admin of this site doesn't mind which taxi/PH union/association uses this site to recruit, as all have done in the past.

Of the big four national associations/unions both the NTA and GMB have worked out that forums like this can lead to new membership and get their issues publishsized, it's just a shame the NPHA and the T&G seem to be stuck in their own little worlds.
