I have today received notification from SKDc that our charges are going up for the second time in less than a year !!!!!

Annual drivers badge goes up to £70.00

hackney license to £186.00 !! and that does NOT include the twice annual tests :x

plus a load of extra admin charges if you lose your badge or need to change any of your details on your licence

Our council tax has just gone up 25% as well although the government are threatening capping over that

They can only re-coup the cost of processing that license, so ask them, via a FoI act request, to detail the costs involved.

Tried that before they cannot detail the breakdown of the cost of the licence only what it costs to run the whole department !

Ask them via the FoI act as they can't say we don't know to that.

Point out to them if they don't know how much it costs to process driver's licenses then how can they set a rate that meets the legal requirement that they must only cover their costs.

Council officers are employed by the council..... they are responsible to councils... get your local councillor to ask the questions.............. if they refuse to answer him.... they get sacked.
