Often when I ask punters which end of the road they have asked for they want they answer “The top end” These are not necessarily roads that are on hills so does anyone know what it means.

Don't quote me but I usually take that to be the farthest away end.

I have always referred to the top of the road as being where the numbering starts.

yes and they think you are stupid if you dont know the top end from the bottom end, all depends which way you come in

If I come in from one end and the passenger says I want the top end, I assume they mean the end which is furthest away from the end I came in at.

The other thing that gets me is when they say 'in front' of that car.

Now is 'in front' in front in the front, or in front in the front. :?

Doesn't help me much, I can never remember which way the numbers go.

It's usually the case that I ask at the begining of the jorney because I will take a different route depending on which end of the road they want.

So then you lower yourself to their mentality and reply...
" I take it you meant behind that car sir ? " and then the debate goes on and starts eating into your shift...blaw blaw blaw....
it's no wonder when we get a few days off we take a good drink eh lads ??
