What is the requirement regarding spare wheels in taxis, as some new cars only come with a can of puncture repair that fixes the puncture and re-inflates it to get you home.
I think this needs to be addressed with the councils, as you cannot show one if you dont have one or anywhere to put it

I have a little Smart for two as a run around as Mrs GBC now needs the Toyota for her new job.

It has no spare, but does come with a compressor and sealant kit.

Trendy too.

If a vehicle is manufactured with a spare wheel then in theory an inspection should include all manufactured parts. If it wasn't then there is not a lot you can do about it.

I think we have to have a full size spare in Fife - no space savers or repair kits etc.

One of the ops here had a gas conversion people carrier. No room for a full size spare, so he had to put it on the roof

I think if the council allows a vehicle to be license without that spear wheel ( ) then they have accepted it as it is.

But I think a council would be wise to allow those lego tyres as a bare minimum.

As it seems to be a requirement in every council area how do you get around it if you cannot get one due to the size or vehicle being new

It's not a requirement in my area. My Vectra has an LPG tank where the spare should be so I don't carry a spare.

Grandad you told me about getting my own gas supply some time ago, I have been considering getting a gas Vectra, but I have read that something clogs up and it could cost about £300 to sort or you just pull a hose off or something to clear it can you confirm this.
And how big is the tank and how many mile from a tank do you get

I don't know about the problems you describe. Mine is not a factory fitted system but an aftermarket one. The tank is a "donut" tank and goes where the spare wheel should be. I do sometimes get a problem with the engine "hunting" for gas on tickover but I can put up with that because of the fuel savings. I don't check how many miles I get per tank because I fill up before it runs low. but I have calculated that I am getting the equivelent of 85 miles per gallon on distance runs and a bit over 70 on every day running about. My gas now costs me with the VAT 55pence per litre, it has gone up quite a lot recently like most fuels but still around half the cost of petrol.
