websites must be the cheapest advertising possible, ive just set one up, with a domain name/url for £8 the signs for the car will cost more! but dare i put a mobile number on it......
there cant possibly be any AOP regs about them, certainly not in any 1800 AOP! |

![]() If a site is registered by someone other than you, and your mobile number is placed on it, by the someone other than you, then IMO the council can't do a thing to you.

we shouldnt have to sneak around, technology has overtaken legislation, so long as its a plated/badged and insured carrier that turns up whats the beef with how the booking was taken |

I saw your username. Did you know that we have about 40'000 drivers in London who would also hold a claim to that particular name.

Just out of curiosity, if somebody booked you to take them to an airport and you didn't turn up, and they missed their holiday, would there be somebody to pay them compensation through this website, |

I think whoever was/is the site's registrant would be liable. |

I was always told, before the days of websites, that a verbal contarct to supply goods or services could result in a claim if such were not supplied. the use of a website is incidental |

Well they would as the registrant is the one who is invited bookings i.e. the operator. And the operator needs an operator's license, and that license will say, in your manor, they can't use mobiles. |

So from a customer's point of view the website isn't worth a blow on a rag man's trumpet, and if a person was killed in a uninsured vehicle supplied by the website, what then..? |

In the case of taxi/PH websites the person in charge of the website is the operator, and if the person operating the website isn't a licensed PH op in the area where the domain is registered, then there is a breach of the 1976 act. |

to some extent your quite right, as with any website, for any trade or business i know a guy who found a website setup with almost his exact same trading title then he sees its got HIS name and address on it! further digging revealed another connected site selling agricultural equipment then the cops pop up, some guy in france has paid for a tractor and asks where it is! smoke and mirrors but i book flights with easyjet.com and hotels with rooms.net so it proves it can work... |
