Post subject:  refusal to accept new applications!!!

I rang our licensing officer up yesterday to enquire about getting 2 chaps licensed to drive my taxis and limos. The licensing officer told me that she was unable to deal with new applications at the moment. The council offices caught fire 3 weeks ago and they had not got any where to interview new drivers or conduct the knowlege test.
Now I have a bit of sympathy for their plight but how difficult is it to find a room to do a simple interview and test?
Times are hard enough without not being able to employ new staff. :x

Lend them your old caravan    :D
And think twice about doing an Alan Sugar if one of your drivers calls you an old runt, or a slap head,  and put a cover over the pram to keep the toys in, until the council get things sorted

Write to them and tell them you will be billing them £50 a day untill they comply with there duty to fullfill there obligations.
Sh!t happens but that is there problem and should not be made to effect the legal running of your bissiness.

Give them five days to sort it or make a complaint to the Ombudsman.

There must be hotels, pub rooms, scout huts, church halls etc they can rent out. So TBH that excuse is pretty pathetic.

They could hire a portakabin and have it delivered in less than 24 hours.

Hi Grandad

Last year my council told me they couldn't accept my application for a PHV as they were "updating" the test and refused to give me the forms. As a licensed Hack, I already had CRB & medical checks. I printed my own form and delivered it. I told them I would wait whilst they either granted or refused my license, and the latter would result in me walking 100 yards to Magistrates to appeal.

The 1976 Act says the must either grant or refuse. They have no power to dissuade you whilst the office is sorted out or the cat comes back from the vet. Depending on your relationship with them, you may want to point this out. Good Luck
