Well, after a 3 month wait i have my copy of my CRB, though my LA has not confirmed theyve had their copy, and havent had the good manners to say so. Quite apart from the question about will i/wont i get granted a badge, will i/wont i get a PH ops licence and will i/wont i get a tourneo plated, the following issues are clogging my thought proccess 1. Can i take a cross border booking (esp a return from an airport) 2. When ive dropped off outside my LA do I have to return to base to restart working, even if i have another prebooked job close to the 1st drop point I can afford a white daimler/bentley/limo, would weddings be easier?... (my two havent been but im not a quitter) |

wannabeeahack wrote: 1. Can i take a cross border booking (esp a return from an airport)? Provided the job has been correctly booked via the operatror you work for. wannabeeahack wrote: 2. Only if you had an operator's licence, PHV licence, & PH driver's licence. Mind you ....... you could whip all the seats out of the Tourneo & put a double bed in instead for weddings. That would be a novelty. You could advertise it as the first WASOTWTTR wedding car in the UK. They have them in the USA. |

No, but if the Merseyside mob and their supporters ever get their way then you certainly will if you don't have a pre booked job. Regards JD |

This LA has made provison to plate "speciality" vehicles, which why the pony+trap (thats NOT an euphonyism in this case) in the town giving £10 rides has a plate and the driver has a hackney/PH badge, and its only (wait for it).... 1 horsepower! --------------------------------------------- id return to base (home) anyway if i had no bookings |

When ive dropped off outside my LA do I have to return to base to restart working, even if i have another prebooked job close to the 1st drop point Yes. No. Can't understand why No to the second question. PH driver is dispatched by his PH operator & does a job at 3.00pm and drops at Durham Street at 3.30pm which is outside his LA's district. At 4.00pm passenger previously dropped at Durham Street (or not) phones original PH base & books a return journey for 8.00pm from Durham Street. At 7.00pm PH driver (original driver or another) is dispatched by PH operator & takes a job to Washington Road which is also outside his LA's district & 3 miles further than Durham Street. After dropping at Washington Road, the PH driver is now dispatched by his PH operator to the 8.00pm return job from Durham Street. He does that job. Are you saying the driver that has picked up the return journey from Durham Street, without first returnung to his LA's district & then making his way back to Durham Street has broken the law? If so why? |

Sussex answered the question correctly. He said NO: he does not have to return to his own base. Regards JD |

You can wait for your next customer. But, you're only licensed if they are travelling back within your LA area. |

But, you're only licensed if they are travelling back within your LA area. A PH driver can work 24/7 and never enter his licensing area. i.e. Delta licensed Sefton PH helping out the Liverpool public.
There are a few councils who say that PH must return to their area to receive another job, but they are all wrong. If your area has that rule then please ask you LO on what basis such a condition exists, and report back ASAP.
