RTA Holds Taxi Instructors Training Course

18th September 2008

Dubai (United Arab Emirates)

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) recently organized an intensive training course, which lasted three days at Dubai Taxi Agency, to enhance training & oratory skills, and further the knowledge of taxi instructors at the Agency.

Essa Abdul-Rahman Al Dossari, CEO of RTARTA Public Transport Agency, stated that RTARTA attached utmost importance to providing full training exposure to its long-serving as well as new employees. "We are keen to have our employees subjected to modern and effective training techniques in order to uplift their performance and upgrade the level of services offered by the RTARTA & affiliated agencies to customers; such as residents, tourists and visitors.

"To raise the standard of RTARTA drivers, particularly cab drivers, we have got to enhance the potentials of instructors at Dubai Taxi Agency and franchise companies through exposing them to modern training syllabuses. This will undoubtedly reflect positively on the performance drivers who act as RTARTA ambassadors as they are in daily contact with various segments of the community. They have to be well turned out in a way compatible with the tourist profile of Dubai, and its image as a premier business center in the region.

"RTARTA is keen to honour distinguished instructors, drivers and employees taking part in the course, who demonstrate enthusiasm & seriousness to learn different types of skills. They are doing a good job for the RTARTA by offering quality service to the public. We are appreciative of the good performance of employees and drivers in shouldering their assignments and contributing to the enhancement of RTARTA business and image across the community" added Al Dossari.
Jawad Sajwani, Director of Franchise and Control Dep't at RTARTA Public Transport Agency, elaborated on the course and said: "The first day of the course included methods of training on effective educational modules, and the session witnessed open discussions to explore potentials of improving performance, methods of boosting trainee self-confidence, presentation patterns, and feedback. It also included an introduction to training techniques, with particular reference to trainees, how to apply training techniques to the agency as a whole & training units in particular, and receiving feedbacks from individuals & groups.

"The second day turned attention to application of effective training skills on training courses adopted by instructors to train taxi drivers. These included methods of providing on-job training to instructors, measuring the effectiveness of training, applying methods of verification, and measuring trainee's aptitude for learning.

"The third and final day of the course reviewed the training programme particularly the personal development aspect, and how to cope with problems related to attitudes of trainees. It also covered the individual development plan, implementation opportunities, business plans, instructor roles, and discussion methods.
