My understanding is that the fire mods are only being done to those vehicles with suspended licenses (i.e. those with VINs ending in 1000 or below). Later TX4s and so on are not having it done and there is to be no general recall. This is from speaking to my local TX4 dealer.

Does anyone know if this is right?

Reading between the lines that appears to be the case.

May a recommend some fire-proof clothing.

LTi have e-mailed us today advising that an expanded recall has been made for TX4s in the VIN range of 200000 - 211500, so that replacement parts can be fitted.

Sorry for the delay in replying to your email of 18th September. We are aware of this issue and LTi have e-mailed us today advising that an expanded recall has been made for TX4s in the VIN range of 200000 - 211500, so that replacement parts can be fitted, TX4s cannot be used until rectified, I am in contact with our own Taxi Inspection Unit on this issue.

i don't think so Nigel, that factory only recently started operating and even then producing a minimal number of vehicles for the local market.

I just received a text from M+O's to check their site.............found this for any London chaps who were planning to go there for a service in the next few weeks.

Quote:
Due to the current situation regarding under bonnet fires in a limited number of early TX4 vehicles, we have been forced to suspend until further notice our service and warranty repair operations at the Mann & Overton London premises in Brewery Road N7. This is to allow our workshop facilities to be entirely devoted to completing as fast as possible, the required rework for around 700 customers who have had their Hackney licences suspended by the Public Carriage Office.

No mention of recalling any further vehicles for the time being.
