Sneaky PH drivers, I have noticed, would appear to be removing a headlamp bulb, and are driving around after dark on one headlight, so as to attract punters to flag them down. It would seem to be their version of an illuminated toplight. Just check out the "one eyes" tonight if you don't believe me...

Or is there another reason, like poor basic maintainance?

Who has told all the punters what to look out for?
Might attract the police as well.

Sadly this trend has spread to every vehicle on the road, Police cars and Ambulances included.

It comes down to a lack of basic maintenance skills, that’s why you can't get an AA man for 2 hours as he's changing wheels on cars as their drivers either can't or cannot be bothered.

When I pointed the headlamp out to the Ambulance driver, he told me they're banned from touching the vehicle as it's under contract to a maintenance firm to carry out any repairs, bulbs and all.

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of drivers that come into my cab garage to have one headlamp bulb changed at £12 a go.

It takes all of 5 minutes before you leave home.

I'm suprised that you weren't thanked and the driver went back to the station to change vehicle.

the cost of beer....

whilst supplying a brewery fleet with truck/trailer parts i noticed that they always bought plugless electrical suzies (the coil springy bit between cab and trailer) and bought the plugs separate

i said to the parts guy "i can sell you complete suzies with plugs fitted cheaper than your paying for leads with no plugs"

he replied "ah, but we employ an electrician to fit the plugs, if we bought leads with plugs he would be out of a job"

as it is they are all out of a job cos exel took the transport over....lol

Why is that?

Do you burn your fingers on the bulbs too?

Wont work in London, most of the TX series ride around on one headlamp cause they are so difficult to change.
Apparently M and O's have a plastic O ring that costs about a pound and when fitted negates the use of the retaining spring that causes the problem. But I haven't seen one yet.
