can any York driver who knows whats going on confirm that there was a Council meeting with the Taxi Association

re the Council who have put at least 10 new plates on now, and are concerned that these plates haven't gone to individuals as per plan, but bought by plate Barons after issue

one of the new issue WAV to the Courrier business as only been seen once out on the streets, the owner is to busy to taxi

another issued to a retired chap who is to old and cant pass a medical was issued and he sold it at 200 odd quid a week rental till its paid for over a few years, thats his pension fund, didnt even have to buy a vehicle

it is thought the next 6 plates are being suspended along with the 2 every 6 months are to be stopped

with drivers now struggling with trying to find rank space that work or punters use, the Council have decided to close 1 Piccadily rank and the one on Blossom st

Duncombe place taxi rank, they were alarmed that from cctv pictures that taxis after 2200hrs was still using the rank, to which closed at that time, certain taxis was spotted at least 15 times after rank closure time

only recently the licencing team was out in the early hours moving taxis from the rank in Rougier st cos there was more taxis on the rank than allotted

so where are we suppose to go, cant keep riding round

What did I say would happen and it looks like it did when they issued the plates
Those plates should have gone to folk that have been on the list before any barons
The council should get them back and give them to folk that are renting at the moment

The council should just remove the limit.
No plate value = no plate barons.
