Talking of the Angel :^o I see PHM have done a profile on his bestest ever cab firm Deans.

http://www.phtm.co.uk/media/1112260887.pdf page 2

To me they look a very professional outfit, and no-doubt the Angel :^o would most certainly agree.

With all those hackneys on the circuit it makes you wonder

According to the Angel :^o Deans had 100s of taxi WAVs, they were swamping the streets with them.

Yet another lie methinks.

Not necessarily, they have to park somewhere between jobs, taxi ranks seem the most apt place, GA has a point  for every vehicle on the rank its a passenger less for GA and any other taxi sitting there.

Of course vehicles will pull off ranks to do radio work, but if the firm has a mix of vehicles (PH & HC) then they may give priority to PH over HC, as HC can work ranks.

For what its worth I see more and more of this firms vehicles in Newcastle all the time.

That's the whole point, the Angel :^o said they have 100s, yet the report says they only have 55.

Thus they have over 200 PHs, yet the Angel :^o said that the place was swamped with Deans taxi WAVs. Deans, according to him, were buying WAVs by the dozens and renting them out.

Yet in this de-limited area, the biggest firm has 5 times as many PH as HC.

48 WAVs.

I asked GA a few times what exactly they were getting for the mega-rentals that he kept on complaining about, but he always seemed a bit reluctant to disclose this.

However, if the vehicle in the picture are anything to go by then they are clearly not second-hand Doblos.

Also, the article says that the vehicles that are not owner-driven are supplied under a lease-purchase agreement, which is clearly not a simple 'rental'.

Another benefit from the radio dues is a pool of PH vehicles available in the event of accident/breakdown.

Of course, these things always show the firm being portrayed in it's most positive light, but I don't think GA was giving us the full picture, and I suspected this all along.

I think its an advert and meant to show the firm in the best possible light, although I tend to agree with GA's sentiments

What I meant was that GA sounded like the Iraqi guy, who a newspaper (The Mirror, I think) described as a ludicrous spin doctor.

But perhaps the next issue of Cab Trade News WILL describe GA as a ludicrous spin doctor
