Post subject:  Updated Forum
As an eighth birthday present to Taxi Driver Online I decided to give her/him an upgrade, or more importantly got told by the host server to do it. :lol:

This is the latest version of the phpbb forum software that we have been using successfully since that wonderful day in 2003 when TDO was born.

When forums such as this are updated we all cross our fingers and hope no stuff is lost, thankfully with the help of a very nice man on the phpbb forums it all went ticker-tee-boo. So Kevin thanks for all the help.

However when updating it's common for avatars not to come across as good as they were previously, and occasionally passwords not working properly.

So if you can't log on with your current password please e-mail me at info@taxi-driver.co.uk and I will send you another one, or re-set your existing password.

As for the avatars have a look and if they look weird, then see if you can make it better. If not then I will have a play for you.

I was going to keep this thread locked, but it might be sensible to use this as a question and answer thread on the new forum.

It's got loads more gadgets, but one that members may wish to use (thinking of our friends up there) is the friends or foe option. Using that you can blank out all the posts from members you don't like.

Looks like poor old Sussex is going to be talking to himself.

Oh and thanks to Mr Skippy for offering to help pay for the site's upkeep. For the record TDO costs less than a couple of quid a week to run. So even tight bum me can swallow that. :wink:

It's very simple to get rid of them, but they do spread the word, and I'm told by phpbb support do no harm.

As I have mentioned on another thread, we have reactivated some accounts of members who have previously been banned.

TDO welcomes them back, but please could those that are coming back behave.

Those with oversized avatars could try deleting them (via their User Control Panel in the top right corner) and reloading it. Not saying that will work, but it did for me.

But since some of them were making me feel a bit nauseous even at the normal size then even a replacement avatar would be preferable :-&

I like this option, it has saved me the trouble of reading a lot of drivel from certain members. =D> Although it does mean that some threads are not making sense.
