Is this plank from the GMB for real or have I missed the joke somewhat?

I can't understand how anyone can take him for real.

The LDCD have some hot heads, but at least they know the cab game.

Even his own think bad of him.

To attack a man who is not allowed to reply is the lowest of the low. Personally I have always found the Guy helpful and doing a good job.

I don't know what you are on about. But why doesn't he can reply on the minicab forum? Is it because there he is dealing with his own.

Now look mate, he hasn't accused you of employing illegal immigrants, being part of some great masonic orange world take over, and various other stupid things.

The bloke is a nutter and if you can't see it, then that's your problem. But maybe you could defend him and his crazy views.

I think the point Mr BB is saying is that Mr GMB no-longer partakes on here.

Thus is you want to discuss issue with him, it will have to be done elsewhere.

Apparantly you are me, according to old Flanaguff? :?

He's representing the right side of the Londo trade, that much I can confirm, even if it is about 12 drivers. :D

As he likes to say, 'Pogue Mahon' to the GMB.

History is the version of past events that people
have decided to agree upon.

I wonder what GMB would make of the job losses at "Burberry" as they were represented by his union, I suppose they did have a go of a fashion. But to my way of thinking if the unions got together and banned trading with these companies, i.e stopped their product at the dockside or airport then less jobs would disappear from G.B.

But it will not happen because the unions are weak, and I would not be surprised if government people are running them.

Hi B.B

I am not in any, I lost my faith in them many years ago.

As I said in another post, all they seem to do is take the members money and pay some high ranking official a massive salary. And what do the members get!

WELL! we have negotiated a good severance package when people have lost their jobs! Quite frankly it is not good enough, from where I stand the unions are toothless and that is not for me.

Talking of Unions, here's a sinister alleged threat from an Ulster GMB official.

The Mirror

April 6, 2007 Friday

HEADLINE: ULSTER UNION OFFICIAL IN 'KILL THREAT'; EXCLUSIVE POLICE TELL SECRETARY TO MOVE HOUSE

BYLINE: BY MAURICE FITZMAURICE

ONE of Northern Ireland's biggest unions has been rocked by claims a secretary was forced out of her home by threats from a colleague.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, says she was advised to move out by police after an official at the GMB told her she would end up "in a plastic bag".

The Mirror understands that the threat was issued after the woman made a complaint against an official called John Dawson.

Dawson, who served a year in jail in 1991 after pleading guilty to perverting the course of justice, is a Regional Organiser for the GMB.

Sources revealed the GMB upheld a number of complaints made by the female worker after she contacted senior managers at the union. It is understood that some of the complaints related to pornography being left on her desk.

The woman, a secretary at the GMB's Donegall Quay office in Belfast, moved out of her home after police told her to take "seriously" a threat made against her by a fellow worker.

Dawson served just under a year in jail in 1991 and 1992 when he admitted his part in the intimidation of a witness to a UVF kidnap bid. He was jailed after the loyalist terror group tried to abduct Catholic road sweeper James Whittson from a shop on the Shankill Road in 1991.

Dawson tried to get him to drop the charges but in a sting operation the police later recorded him and a workmate threatening to kill Whittson if the case went ahead.

A spokesman for the GMB, which represents more than 10,000 workers across Northern Ireland, yesterday said a team of investigators had been brought in from Britain to investigate the complaints.

He added a number of matters "have been dealt with and disciplinary action taken". But the spokesman continued: "Some matters are ongoing and subject to internal procedures so we are not able to comment as it would not be consistent with the rules of natural justice."

The Mirror understands Dawson also landed himself in trouble by running up a phone bill of more than pounds 2,000 ringing premium rate lines on a GMB phone. But the union said that Dawson was "disciplined and the bill has been fully repaid".

Union sources said the woman made a complaint of harassment at Musgrave Street PSNI station on October 3 last year. The Mirror understands that in correspondence between her and a senior official investigating her allegations, she said the police then told her to take the threat seriously.

A PSNI spokesman confirmed that a complaint of harassment had been made.
