Just read it.

Gives a history lesson on most of the important judgements laid down.

Then their Lordships bottle it IMO.

I think they highlight 'London Cabs' as evidence that the 1976 act allows hackney carriages not licensed in an area to work in an area.

So they mention an area which has only recently introduced private hire?

They should maybe have mentioned Mars or Pluto ffs.

The question their Lordships should have asked themselves is;

Did parliament envisaged hackney carriages licensing in an area yet never working there?

Not sure how my good friend JD would have received this judgement.

But I know he would have been as pleased as punch that Gladen was confirmed, and strengthened. :D

Could someone translate this judgment, into plain English, as I and I am sure many others on here cannot follow some of the judgment wordings, did they get off and can a hack be used as a pH in another area
A yes or know to either will do

And if anyone puts a judgment on here please put the outcome as win or loose

No change then. After all the associations saying this is the big one. The judiciary are an old boys club. Every decision in the past was right, they can see no reason to correct Sir Christopher. Leave any adjustments to parliament, that should only take a couple of weeks. Dont hold your breath.

Yes & I know, or No for that matter; that is to either or both, or even all three scenarios that you posed.

It may have been a win, it may have been a loss, & it could even have been tight (as opposed to loose) depending from which side you are looking at the judgment.

A scoreless draw perhaps.

I hope this helps Mr Skippy41.

a hack out of area IS ONLY useable as a pre-booked PHV, or as ive said before "a hack is only a taxi in its own plated area, outside its just like me.............PH"

Yes.

But they could also be done for illegally plying for hire, depending on the circumstances at the time.

No, the judges confirmed a taxi is always a taxi, but they can only ply within it's licensing district.

They also confirmed taxis need have nothing to do with PH requirements even if they are doing radio work.
