TDO is always trying to empower you with the tools that will help you understand the laws and legislation which govern you. I have therefore on behalf of TDO supplied the Civic Government Scotland act in pdf format so that all our Scottish subscribers might take advantage of the opportunity to download it for themselves or their friends, at no cost to themselves.

The full act can be downloaded courtesy of TDO from this link.

Parliamentary procedure for regulations about vehicles used as taxis and private hire cars

In section 20 (regulations about, among other things, taxis and private hire cars) of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 (c 45)—

(a) in subsection (2), the words “made by statutory instrument” are repealed; and

(b) in subsection (3), for “subsection (1) above” there is substituted “subsection (1) or (2) above”.

I think I have the original version of the 1982 act but I could be wrong, nevertheless I keep finding amendments here there and everywhere. Here is one that amends the original reference to the secretary of state making certain regulations by statutory instruments, which I have posted in another thread.

Without looking at the act again I think all references to statutory instruments have now been removed from section 20 and it now refers to "regulations", which in theory amount to the same thing.

Regards

JD
