And your assuming that a TX4 is a high standard of vehicle. I beg to differ.

Not necessarily, it would depend on the vehicles that would be required to become a taxi driver. Not everybody can afford the WAV vehicle.

You can license a new whole type approved WAV in my manor for less than the price of a new Mondeo.

I'd like to know which vehicle/vehicles that may be?

May I suggest you give Cab Direct and The Taxi Centre a call.

Correct, which is why I'm hoping the law Commission will free many of the PH slaves.

Maybe the PH trade can have their own 13th Amendment included in the New Cab Act. :-$

To be honest Sussex the ph here were free to do as they pleased when we was de-restricted but with the vehicle requirement being WAV only and none of the two bob WAVs allowed it just wasn't worth the investment

Good points, some are obviously mad, but there you go.

If I was a betting man, I'd have an each way bet on the Northern Ireland (Taxis) Act 2008 being adopted nationwide.

Reasoning;

  • The legislation has already been done
  • The government want to further push the WAV
  • Mr Button is an advisor to the Law Commission
  • The NI Act is basically his thoughts in the IOL paper
  • The act would be cheap to enforce
  • Law Commission were not interested in the financing of taxi licensing regimes when asked
