not just me mate, but a lot of people up and down the country, if i wanted to work where you work, then i should have to do a local knowledge test, not go to some two bit council, license myself as a hack, and then go do private hire in your area

Ah, so I was bang on then, it's a legal loophole that you don't like rather than a 'trick or cheat'.

delicately as possible, aren't you of ethnic minority origin?

don't be delicate, after all you know heaps about me dont you..and if you're born here then your British no matter what the EDL, BNP, NF wackos may say, and oh yeah, pledge allegiance to the Queen, but even I would say that its bad when these people use the tricks and cheats to get licensed on the sly.

Ah I see. Anyone of minority ethnic origin actually born here is OK, whereas you seem to have an objection to an "influx of non-native, non-English speaking" people.

Glad we cleared that up.

not i dont like, a lot of the trade doesn't like, again you have a habit of twisting things to suit your needs.

no objection, get licensed properly in your area of work, not use the "trick or cheat" option to work there.

but i suppose none of this matters to you as in your fictional area of work, everything is rosy and sweet.

Er, you and me.

As for the rest of your reply, not really sure if it clarifies or confuses, so perhaps others can make up their own minds.

On the other hand, I accidentally came across this offering from late last year:

Last year Mr 187ums wrote:
Doom is correct, the PHV barons have taken on just about anybody that comes off the banana boat, people with two jobs see it as an extra income earner. I know of one PHV Baron who boasts that he has over 250 cars working for him, even thats not enough.

So one minute you're objecting to the "non-native, non-English speakers", then as long as they get licensed they're OK, but previously you were objecting to what you call the "banana boat" brigade irrespective of the licensing aspect? #-o

Not sure you need to ask if you're so sure I'm imagining it :D

But if your delusion keeps you happy then I'm very happy for you \:D/

Don't know if you read the Scottish section, Mr 187ums, but if you pop over there there's a post in which captain cab is bigging up people with PhDs and titled 'professor' and the like.

Gosh, that'll never do, will it?

Only problem is that the reason he's bigging them up is because they apparently took the Law Commission to task, ie they're on your side.

Awkward, isn't it, when all those non-taxi drivers are making your case for you? :D

You really do look like someone whose tied up in a chair with the mafia boss about to blow a hole in your head lately, almost like someone playing bash the hippo at the funfair, or trying to bang the split hull plates back into place in the hull of the titanic as the water floods in, or someone trying to keep goal when all ten other players kick a ball at the same time,

I've been reading you a lot lately Dusty and you are so worried about returning fire you aren't thinking about what you post, and what you post is most illogical most of the time matey, the cars in York for instance, you think all the drivers will just do an 8 hrs shift in the extra amount of cars, the very barons you say you dislike will double shift the extra cars, Pete Jones ain't getting a cab, he can't afford the price of the vehicle and the bank won't lend him, the only cabs that will appear will be double/triple shifted baron owned ones silly boy, but I think you know that already don't you, but choose to bury your head in the sand rather than look like you got it wrong for the last 9 years,

Take a break old son, take a break, we all know you are an invention of someone else with a de-regulation agenda in full flow, and even that ego has gone rather quiet when compared with the self assured Brightons' own Law Commissioner poster of a few years ago, now get some rest and try to think rational next time instead of trying to goad CC and Toots, both got infront of you by a long way when the logic was being handed out, you're just coming over as bitter and twisted now because CC has drafted a good letter that just about blows everything you say clean out of the water.

I think your actually a PH baron....although you did mention you bought a plate for £12K or something like that including a cab........but when you shout about regulation you always cite people paying £30K plus.

You want deregulation because you know what it leads to, drivers being forced by debt to work PH circuits.

Well I've been feeling a bit down recently, but at least this kind of patronising, ill-informed, insulting, misleading and (I suspect partially) dishonest stuff has brought a big fat grin to my face.

So keep them coming. And I'm sure you can increase the standard a bit. Image

If he's achieved seven out of ten with you, then that's a First at Uni; what more do you want?

It's "they've", not "he's".

And the scoring system is more Olympic gymnastics than university degrees.

I thought that initially as well, but in fact it's all very pertinent to the LC's proposals.

I mean, cross-border issues and the uncertainty over plate values. Where better to put them - the 'Repairs and maintenance' section? :?
