Road to reform Update

From; rainycityripoff.blogspot.com

Friday, 22 July 2011

Now that the Transport Select Committee has published its report into taxi and private hire licensing, the Department for Transport is expected to respond to the report within 60 days. The response normally takes the form of a Memorandum to the Committee, which is then published by the Committee as a “Special Report”. Sometimes the Government will publish a response as a White Paper if not the Transport Select Committee will have the option of recommending it for debate.

The minister can ignore the committee and refer the matter to the law commission, however that would be unlikely, as his comments in the press show, he agrees urgent reform is required. So there it is, another sixty days and we will now one way or the other.
