Whilst browsing the web for other cab-related information, I have just come across these two websites/blogs.

Is it all already set in stone and are the Law Commission just going through the motions?

On this link, http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthr ... ?t=1460446 I found the following post;

B329 - London Hackney Carriage (Repeal) Bill 2010

B329 - London Hackney Carriage (Repeal) Bill 2010, Government

An Act to abolish the London Hackney Carriage Act 1843 and all legislation pertaining to regulations and statutory provisions for London Taxis and Hackneys otherwise contemporarily known as ‘Black Taxicabs’.

BE IT ENACTED by The Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Commons in this present Parliament assembled, in accordance with the provisions of the Parliament Acts 1911 and 1949, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

(1) The following Statutes are hereby repealed:
(a) London Hackney Carriage Act 1843

(e) London Cab and Stage Carriage Act 1907
(f) London Cab Act 1968

(2) The following Statutory Instruments are hereby repealed:

I'm not sure I know of anyone in the know that thinks this isn't a done deal.

We will just have to wait till April next year to get the details.

However I think the act you listed was recently passed and only effects our good friends in London.

I think you better have a VERY GOOD LOOK at the links within my post.

I, like you, fell for it all when I started this thread. Now that I have had a good chance to digest what I posted, I see the error of my ways.

I didn't pay any attention to the TSR legend on the website and now realise that it means The Student Room and the post was from their MODEL Parliament forum.

#-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

But having established that, the TSR forum does show what the general public think about the cab trade.

I think its just a case of dotting the I's and crossing the t's.

TBH the cab trade probably deserve what it gets......people are not interested.

A very few are interested, but most of that very few are happy with the way it's going.

They either see loads of money coming their way, or an ending of something they don't particularly like.
