We could have the same high standards of testing as they do in Ireland.... hundred pounds and you don't even have to take it in..... standard hackney rate ran across the country and then be underpriced by the private hire.... =D> =D> =D>

Applicant standards-english,maths,local area knowledge,discrimination awareness .

Vehicle standards-age,quality,safety .

Testing centres-level playing field... a bulb fail in london is a fail in liverpool .

And more choice/availability of testing centres .

Thank you andy.....we have a start....unlike brummie who was a tad vague.

These should be the national standards;

http://www.fta.co.uk/search/?index=FTA+ ... re+vehicle

Click on the top link.

Sorry that the 63-page HC and PHV National Inspection Standards PDF opens sideways on; I have the correctly orientated PDF and have had it on my computer since September 2008 and have still to find one LA using this manual.

Now I'm not being vague Captain, but can you blame me and others when LAs up and down the country test vehicles HTF they like!!

If all ph are WAVs then surely they'd all be taxis then or more to the point they would be here because the only difference between the driving licenses is the vehicle they choose to drive

What's that got to do with the price of butter?

I'll email you two the two versions I have on my computer.

One is a PDF, the other is the same document but in Word Document format, presumably so the individual LAs / testing stations / authorities can tinker with the standards and tailor them to their own requirements.

I don't understand why the Word doc was released; it defeats the object of national standards.

Give me 15 minutes and you'll have the email with attachments.
