I emailed the Law Commission today with full details of the arrangeents for the meeting in Brum on 16th August 2012.

I immediately received an out-of-office automated reply from one of the recipient.

On reading the reply it became obvious that the Law Commission team engaged in 'Reforming the law of taxis and private hire services' are simultaneously engaged in four other projects of law reform.

These are;

Election Law
Level Crossings
Regulation of Healthcare Professionals
Wildlife Management.

So, our project, along with the above four each take up only 20% of their time and that's presuming that they share their time on an equal basis.

Perhaps more evidence of going through the motions?

Not really as the Healthcare one has been almost completed, these will all be at different stages and will have different people in charge of them one would assume but as we know it's not wise to assume

I think they are spending plenty of time on this project.

They have been traveling the length and breadth of the country, which is a lot more than any other consultation team that I know of has done.

Some say they have been going through the motions, in some respects I hope so. :wink:

They are travelling the length and breadth of the country and not listening to anyone.....I'd call that going through the motions :wink:

Why?

Because some of their proposals are good.

You may be in the gang that shouts because the LC oppose taxi quotas the rest is sh**, but I'm not.

If you look at the make-up of the Law Commission chart that is somewhere on the Internet, you'll see it's made up like a family tree and the second, third and fourth 'descendants' are all group together just like a family and all work on the same areas of law reform.

Or at least that's what it seems to show and there are a fair number of these teams.

What like making the barons recruiting drive from the 3rd world easier,

Or driving down already low fares while costs spiral,

Or relaxing checks on one side while airport searching the other,

Get back to the glass of wine and finish your picture off in the garden by the stream will ya, and don't forget to high five with the fairies as they float by. :roll:

Loads of hot air, but no substance to what you say.

Why not debate the issues? Or is it easier for you just to type bollocks?

Really,

I suggest you read the public edition of the LC proposals rather than the Sussex Edition,

Thing is I'm reknown as an honest guy, you ain't so who shall we believe? :-$

It appears that I may have been a little too critical and wrong to some extent in my original post on this thread.

I have now been informed of the following from a very good authoritative source;

'You're right to point out that he [RP] is involved with five different projects - this is because he's the manager of the Public Law team and thus oversees the work of a number of lawyers and research assistants. I can assure you though that he is very hands-on with the taxi project, particularly during our consultation period. As for Jessica and myself, we work full-time on the project. Our work is also overseen and supported by Frances Patterson QC, the Law Commissioner for the public team, and all our policy has to be discussed with and signed off by Frances, the three other Commissioners, and our Chairman, who is a High Court judge.'

At least we all know that the LC are still reading our posts, which I strongly suspected when I opened this thread.
