Out of town hacks not working as PH in next mans zone.

And creating a zone where only the licensed of that area can work.

Following the Victoria or New York model with regards to the licensing of plates.

The definition of 'street' might well sort that.

I think they call that licensing areas.

Hacks only doing rank work, no radios in them? :?

A few more I liked.

PP20. Allowing spouses to drive vehicle for non work related stuff.

PP21. Gov should issue statutory guidance.

Q23. Just love 'pre booked taxis'.

PP24. National safety standards.

PP43. Councils continue to set taxi fares, but leave PH alone.

PP20 will create a loophole

PP21 is plain stupid, locals are best placed.

Q23; insanity

PP24; they havent told us what the standards will be.....its like me asking you for money and not telling you how much

PP43; no change? . now that i like

Surely the whole thing should be about quality not quantity.
There should be enough Taxis/PH/drivers to meet demand, whose hours are not excessive, whose health and safety is respected and whose earnings amount to a 'living' wage.
So the report should be called 'The Road to Utopia'!
These drivers should be well trained and have a substantial amount of local knowledge of the area that they work in, thus providing local people and visitors a high quality service that reflects value for money.
Simple?

PP2. London should be included.

I will start you off on this one Sussex.... how could I make any sort of intelligence reply To this.... London is the centre of this country.... it works differently from the rest of England and Wales due to the fact that it has a bigger population as a City. and the vast majority of tourists..... it must have problems that are peculiar to London and therefore make it different.......

So what proposals are the LC suggesting that would work well out of London that wont work within it?

Luckily our views are well represented by the RMT, LTDA, UNITE, LCDC and the UCG.

I wonder how many areas haven't even bothered responding?

I wonder how many area's even know the LC review is taking place?

We do.

Will unite have used the same proposals for all branches or will each branch have submitted their own with different proposals.

A source has informed me that Unite in Leeds have had their deadline extended until 2nd October.

Has anybody else had the deadline extended or have the branch in Leeds missed the deadline. #-o

Unite will be putting in one response nationally, as most of their local reps don't know what day it is.

However they will only concentrate on that one question, and no-doubt finish their response with 'do what you like with us on every issue, other than de-restricting taxi numbers'.

The London Taxi Branch L.C submission yes is some 500 pages but this includes the submission that was carried out for London's TFL's P.H consultation, which we consider should be a part of the Taxis trade submission. A further submission has been submitted by Union H.Q which relates to the political side of this exercise. At the request of branches and composites we were ask to be the front runner of this exercise with close co-operation as drafts were being prepared. On the London's perspective the L. C Branch sub Committee have requested a separate London Act and the continuing of London's COF with turning circle, concern that we would loose London's Taxi Brand if all different styles of vehicles are licence. The full submission will be available on branch's web site and other RMT sites in couple of weeks. Will notify when available.

Fraternal Regards

A few more proposals I'm quite sympathetic too.

48. Ops licenses should be mandated for PH.

54. Rather partial to this one.

61. Disability training for all drivers.

68. LOs can enforce anywhere.

72. The best place IMO.

I have sympathy for London being treated different - just like I want Carlisle pushed back into Scotland.

Here's the beginnings of a train of thought

If London is included and in the final Act and total delimitation is not............

The deeper you think about it the more Captain Cab's fait accompli springs to mind
