Some on here believe there is nothing good on the LC report. A discussion started on another thread re the one/two tier issue, which stopped when some of us had to finsih our responses.

Now that's done, in my case, I will start afresh with other proposals.

Please add anyone you think is good.

PP2. London should be included.

PP5. PSVs should be excluded.

PP7. Limos should get statutory guidance from Gov via TCs.

I agree with the above three.

I will start you off on this one Sussex.... how could I make any sort of intelligence reply To this.... London is the centre of this country.... it works differently from the rest of England and Wales due to the fact that it has a bigger population as a City. and the vast majority of tourists..... it must have problems that are peculiar to London and therefore make it different.......

So what proposals are the LC suggesting that would work well out of London that wont work within it?

IMO, if it's good enough for London, then it's good enough for England and Wales and vice-versa.

One small little point... how many years does is take a driver in Birmingham to learn the knowledge.... pass his test

The last guy that I know who did the Brum Knowledge took about a year. He's on TDO as TX11 CAB.

The Birmingham knowledge now included 10/12 questions on cab legislation of which you MUST score 100%. 35 questions on the Highway Code of which you must get a minimum of 30 correct.

Then there are 80 questions on the Knowledge itself. The Knowledge syllabus has approximately 2,500 to 2,700 questions on locations and through-routes of which only 80 and selected randomly by computer for each individual Knowledge test. I believe the pass mark is either 90% or 95%, but since you asked, I'll get the full SP later today.

TX11 CAB's previous post on this subject is at; viewtopic.php?f=5&t=18409&p=230336#p230336 - 6th post down on the first page.

I've managed to work out that London is rather big, but I'm still interested in which bit of the LC's report shouldn't apply in London but should elsewhere.

Punters going from A to B for payment is a pretty universal thing, why should London be different?

The knowledge can be catered for in the proposals.

I am glad that you worked out London was rather big... and that you know people have to pay when using the taxi. so on that basis... you think that one size shoe should fit all feet.....

I certainly am not naive.... I just don't think that you can compare London.... to say Birmingham or Liverpool..... and I think that it's up to London drivers to answer that question...
