So, anyone fancy putting their whole response up on here instead of doing it a bit at a time?

Can we leave CC out of that though - I only have superfast broadband and with that it would take too long with all the soundtracks, film clips and cut and pastes that would make War and Peace look like a little light reading.

I thought they would be in the film clips.

He isn't thinking of using real helicopters is he?

He might you know.

Will the LC provide a LZ for a chopper to deliver CC's tome?

Thing is WAVs are now available cheaper than saloons.

What I meant to say is that IMO all 'taxi' laws should be enshrined in primary legislation, with the proviso that small tweaks would be available within that legislation for special case LAs, but those small tweaks would only be available to those LAs that wanted to / needed to use them upon ratification of their need to use the tweaks from the DfT / Minister for Transport.

If you don't have such a framework you will continue to get the mish-mash of diverse multi-mini-legislational odd-ball crap that we are dealing with now in many LAs.

Many, indeed most LAs are not fit for purpose when it comes to taxi and private hire licensing and enforcement.

Not so sure about running costs, but they don't last as long as traditional WAVs.

A few more proposals I like.

PP11. Wedding and funeral cars being licensed.

PP13. Regulations shouldn't be limited to 'the street'.

PP15. Proper legal definition of 'plying for hire'.

PP18. Taxis must take first job from rank if first.

Do the anti LC brigade disagree with the above?

PP11..........wedding and funeral cars...........can anyone tell me of a single case where a wedding car driver or funeral driver has created a problem?

And before you say they might go out and do a prom night.......a volunteer driver 'might' go out and take a regular customer to the shops.

Personally, I think my licensing department has enough on its hands without including these people.

PP13....'street'.................a definition of what a street will be would be nice, if its any place a the public have access to, as per thompsons book, then yep I'll go with that, but on the same basis, if its a street then why no resolvement of cabs paying to stand at transport interchanges??

PP15.......yeah it'll be useful, but the answer till be like a rubik cube.

PP18.....I dont see this as anything other than a fop to the cab trade it is intent on destroying (the b*stards).......that aside, I didnt actually read that bit, unless its the compellability bit???

I like the one ...that says private hire can only be called private hire... and not TAXI
