And that means it's the very last day anyone can contribute to the Law Commission's Taxi and Private Hire Report.

As their homepage says:

Please send responses either by email to tph@lawcommission.gsi.gov.uk or by post to Public Law Team (Taxi and Private Hire), Law Commission, Steel House, 11 Tothill Street, London SW1H 9LJ. If you send your comments by post, it would be helpful if, where possible, you could also send them electronically (in any commonly used format).

My personal response went in yesterday.

Pushing the send button was hard - had I forgotten something important?

Carlsburg!

I've just been told, by a reliable source @ Unite, that today's deadline has been put back to October 2nd 2012. Can anyone confirm this?

Or is it a 'cloak and dagger' Union inside job? :-k

If it is true, where's the notification?
And, is it only for Unite?
Many questions once again and mushroom syndrome in full swing. Of course they will say, "Oh! Didn't we tell you?" the usual, but really there should have been a press release I feel, the last one being this, about 'A modern legal regime for protecting and managing wildlife' 14 August 2012. Maybe wildlife means Unite Taxi Section who knows?

I guess we should contact them direct, this is the address:

Press office contacts
Phil Hodgson,
Head of External Relations 020 3334 0230
Jackie Samuel 020 3334 0216

Communications@lawcommission.gsi.gov.uk

Or of course Hannah Gray @

hannah.gray@lawcommission.gsi.gov.uk

The LC have generously agreed short extentions to a number of stakeholders who have cited reasons for delay; these include the obvious collation of important data - I understand the date was 30th September.

Sadly, Carlisle's response will keep them going for a month or so

Oh right, so four and a half months is not enough for paid officials to get their collective s**t together then, but it's ok for us?
Mind you they've probably been busy recruiting unemployed brickies and civil servants I suppose?
Still, one rule for one......
Does anyone know the total amount of submissions up to now? Last I heard about 200.

Well I heard 200 in the latter part of last week, since then Plymouth Licensed Taxi Association and 2 individuals in the 'burgh have submitted.

So that makes 203.

Carls Island submission is for 50 - but, given it's size, should count as at least 60.

I think the Law Commission should have three months to deal with them all, and we could stretch it by a month - because of Carls Island!

If yours is a chapter, my 30 pages is a verse!

Charles, I so hope you got yours in on time, it could tie them up beyond the next election.

Transport for London has been granted an extension but also London Taxi Assoc, Unite(London) and London Cab Drivers Club have managed to attached themselves to TFL's coat tails and got this extended time. Its possibly that they may submit more that one and haft pages letter as they did on TFL's P.H consultation. So far all we have had is keep your hands of London.
