Spoke to berwick lic/off and they said that they belived taxi drivers to be proffesional people and would keep there cars up to standard.

Any council that relies on the goodness of drivers is plain stupid.

An enforcement officer thats what ours is paid

But your hardly a vast metropolis.....we have 2 LO's, 1 LM, and a number of other office persons....and thats little Carlisle.

I dont know what the average wage of a civil servant is....but say its £20K per year....work the rest out for yourself.

I would add, if anyone in Newcastle is unhappy about their fees they can always request a breakdown via the FOI?

CC

We have 3 of them covering the whole of the Borders plus the ones in each office in Gala Hawick Peebles

all doing 6 hours each and getting 16K each?

The ones in the offices are council employees so they work normal council hours, the taxi inspectors work a max 6 hours in-between playing golf or on holidays

The public of the Borders can sleep safely in their beds then

Yes your right they can, the taxi inspectors send out letters to owners that they want to see them at an appointed time and they check the vehicles over tyres dents cleanliness and all documentation, this can happen up to 6 times a year sometimes every month if you dont meet the requirements, and your red carded untill you comply, and thats on top of the taxi test

Do you not see my point now then?

What point????????????? :D

Yes, very cynical. Who would imagine that anyone other than an upstanding citizen would go to so much bother in order to circumvent local licensing rules :?

Isn't that what we call a judgement? :?

It sounds more like arbitration to me and will obviously be a first in law. A judge asking either side if they are happy with his judgement and if they are not happy he will consider changing his decision depending on their views? lol

Obviously someone has a reality disorder and I can't decide whether it's the judge or the person making the statement about consultation?

When I read this deputy judges background I had reservations about his ability to understand the complexities of taxi licensing law, if indeed such legislation contains any perceived complexities? His judgement will be most interesting not only for the outcome but for any inaccuracies that may have guided his decision?

Regards

JD

NO.

Perhaps next week or perhaps never? lol

If there is a decision against Berwick then it won't be based on law because Berwick hasn't transgressed any laws. Even if the judge decided in his wisdom that Gladden was a localised decision, it is meaningless because any prosecution would ultimately end up in the court of appeal, presided over by at least two or three higher judges. It's all been a complete waste of time.
