No point touching a TX2.

Anyone else thinking likewise ???

Mines fine, I've not had any problems except an alternator, neither did the previous owner. :?

M & O, and KPM are doing them with 3 year warranties at the moment, although I can see demand going up for the TX2 with the current mess.

I think the timing chain tensioner is the main fault, I intend to replace mine for £350 every two years regardless, which in my opinion is money well spent for peace of mind.

Timing chain tensioner??? Escuse my lack of diesel mechanics but my tx2 is fast approaching 70k, at each 10k service the garage's have not said anything about changing it? :?:

You got me worried now :? when do you think i should look at getting it done? the cab is 2 and half. And roughly how much is it?

Cheers :)

As David said above it may not need doing until 140'000 miles plus, they seem to need doing at anything between 50'000 and 90'000, but it depends from Taxi to Taxi.

If it's rattling like hell, and it's taking several attempts to start it, then the tensioner probably needs doing.

'Taxi tech' do the new chain and tensioner for £350 all in, or as David has had done above, Hexagon do the whole works for £650 which hopefully will see you through a good few years work.

I'm no mechanic, ask Mr T if you need the in's and out's of how the internal systems work.

As many years of motorbiking has taught me there is absoluteley no point in changing a chain with changing the sprockets as well, the old saying....buy cheap....buy twice!
