Personally I don't think it's doing me any favours, I am a Hackney Carriage Proprietor working Basildon District.
Does anyone else have any of these type of schemes running, and how has it affected trade?

I suppose it's ok if you have 5 people in the car, but what about when you pick up 1 person and a couple hundred yards down the road you get flagged by someone wanting a cab and are willing to pay the normal rate.

You'd be gutted.

The way I'm looking at it, it's the people that we're prepared to pay full price for a cab to town, may now walk a few hundred yards to a bus stop to wait for a cab with a sticker, if in the mean time a bus comes along we all lose out. The price war between A and B and Value cars in Basildon is getting beyond a joke, the only people losing out there are the drivers, the firm owners are still getting the same radio rent each week so what do they care how much is being charged, this will eventually lead to a drop in vehicle standards, and as Basildon council now perform twice yearly MOT's rather than just Council inspections, i can see more drivers being forced to work unacceptable hours to make ends meet, or give up all together?!?.
I shall now step down from my soap box lol.

The meter must be on and no more than the metered fare can be charged.
Also additional passengers can only be taken with permission of the first hirer.

BTW I thought only a bus can legally stop at a bus stop. :?
