Today it was revealed that a York Hackney driver had been targeted by the tax man in a boat (vat man) after tip offs alleging that he was able to pay his insurance in full (12 months) in one go, and was seen with shopping coming out of Sainbury's on several occasions.

Investigations also revealed that he had taken at least 3 x 1 week holiday's at the Blue dolphin caravan park near Filey in the last 5 years, and at least i trip to Blackpool for the lights, which led various government bodies to believe that he must have had other undeclared incomes.

This led to a dawn raid on his trailer, which it is believed they found£1.56 in cash hidden in the back of a 1971 bush 17in television, along with several pairs of ladies Black Calvin Kline G strings, which he was unable to explain how the money came to be there, but his solicitor later said the ladies underwear were in anticipation of a new dress code been implemented in York.

It is believed he is now on remand in Hull prison pending further inquiries, and unlikely to be released on bail.

and lots to be said for the York cabby who has bought or rented a City of York taxi plate complete with Station permit and was given the go ahead to work the station rank

only to be reported by the same people who gave him permission [York Stn Taxis] to the British Transport police that he was plying for hire without a National Express East Coast railway ID badge, ARRESTED and removed from the rank

his only out come now is that he pays York Stn Taxis 150 quid to have the matter resolved by the committee of National Express East Coast Railway taxi drivers

i wonder if they are trying to telling him something, they, Station Taxis dont think he is a fit and proper , but he has a taxi licence

York stn taxis are policing this city

oh i forgot to mention re the £1.56, never mind that, hows about the £56 grand, non negotable East Coat mainline bombshell to hit York Stn taxis for that cabin, Yearly rental in the Stn Portico, suppose the 37 shareholders it will be a piece of p*ss to them, just take it from the drivers as usual

And i will say it again, if the rest of the guys that work the station rank who are not share holders, finally said enough is enough.
That would leave station taxi's with 37 cab's to service the station rank, no chance!!!! that will leave station taxis shareholders to fund their own cabin, No chance!!!! which may i add is unlikely to be there in 38 months time, according to the planning application recently submitted for redevelopment of the whole Portico.
They would how ever be able to cover there radio work, given how little came over the radio when i was in there.
Without us independents servicing the rank National express wouldn't give them the time of day, and as we are the majority (90) cars, we just need a unity among us and some bottle, will it happen? I doubt it!
Why we cant form our own association to deal with the rank / negotiation with National Express and even the outer office contract is beyond me.
All these people who moan moan about them, yet do nothing creative or positive to put a end to the monopoly station taxi's seem to have, that we actually supply them with the means to do so, what a set of idiot's we must be!!!!
