Taxi driver seen defecating in our street, say residents

Published on Monday 18 April 2011 11:30

A taxi driver was allegedly spotted defecating in the street next to his car.

On Monday at around 6.30am, eyewitnesses say they saw a driver from Bywell Cars get out of his taxi and defecate in Queen Street, Chickenley, then drive off without clearing it up.

But the taxi firm say they have not been able to investigate the matter because they cannot identify the accused driver.

Customer relations manager Akmal Hussain said that Bywell Cars takes its customer service very seriously, but in this matter, no witnesses had been able to provide a private hire licence or vehicle registration number to help them work out which driver to investigate.

He said: “If there was any way we could identify the driver, I would be the first one to suspend him until Kirklees Council said he was fit to work.”

A council spokesman said the council’s licensing and environmental health teams were aware of the incident and urged anyone with information to contact the police or the council.

Is it a myth that there's an old law that says a hackney driver can urinate in public as long as it's against their rear driverside wheel and they have one hand on the vehicle ? Does that extend to having a dump as well !!

i know for a fact that certain ethnic groups wont use a normal WC/crapper, 1 local firm had to fit "hole in the ground" bogs and at businesspost they wer found to have been STANDING on the bogs to do a number 2.

Not withstanding this instance, I'm 100% sure standards of drivers are, in the main, getting worse.

And I'm not convinced that the 'powers that be' are really trying to make things better.

Perhaps the trade should start asking for higher standards instead of waiting for the council to implement them

That's because the 'powers that be' are sh*t scarred of doing much about it, for fear of being shown the 'race card'!

I've spent the last 15 years doing exactly that.

Thankfully with a council that is generally in favour of higher standards.

But don't get any thanks from the operators for it.

You won't get thanks from operators, the higher the standards the harder it becomes for them to get drivers
