I think Grandad was right. My own experience tells me this. I bought my house on 13 Sept 1985. I signed for 15% interest, it was high at the time and I was worried.

However I paid it off last year and it has not fell down yet, so, so far so good.

Nope.......................wrong recession :D........Annnnd if I may say so, not only did you buy the house, but you should have bought some furniture................as it would appear that you are sat on the garden fence in between 1980 & 1990.......

I remember the day they raised it to 15% (or whatever it was) and then dropped it back to 12 % later that same day.

Bowels moved throughout Britain.

Luckily that was in the days when I had a small one bedroomed flat with an equaly small mortgage!
