It's lucky 13 for boss of taxi firm

Taxi boss Irfan Ahmed has been allowed to stay on the road despite racking up 13 penalty points on his licence.

Ahmed, 44, of Low Road, St Ives, appeared before Huntingdon magistrates for using a mobile phone at the wheel and faced disqualification under the ‘totting up’ procedure.

He pleaded guilty and was fined £140, with three points added to his licence, taking him to 13.

Magistrates accepted his account that his wife, who was having a difficult pregnancy, and his elderly parents would suffer if he lost his licence, as would his business and his drivers.
