Council in rethink after same-colour cabs row COUNCIL bosses could drop controversial plans to force taxis to be painted the same colour following a legal ruling.
Tendring had wanted all cabs to be painted white and green, and carry the council's crest.
But the council has been forced into a rethink.
The proposals had sparked anger among cabbies.
Tendring is to look at the decision again following a crown court judgement over a similar scheme in Newcastle.
Licensing committee chairman Jose Powell said they would look at whether to go ahead with the new regulation or drop it.
“The majority of Tendring taxi drivers who responded supported all the other changes we brought in but were opposed to making all vehicles the same colour," she said.
"It therefore gives us another chance to take on board their views at the meeting."
