Taxi drivers urged to report outside tradersTaxi drivers in Tenby are being urged to report any firms from outside the county plying for trade in the area.
Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans recently told her colleagues at a meeting of the town council, that many taxi drivers had approached her with their concerns that operators from outside areas were coming into the resort and taking their business away.
At Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, the town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, told members that he had had clarification from Pembrokeshire County Council’s licensing department that only those with a Hackney Carriage licence issued in Pembrokeshire could operate in the county.
“Anyone who operates a licence from outside of the county, can’t come in looking for trade,” he explained.
“They can be booked privately, but cannot come into the town and ply for trade.
“County council licensing officers have urged drivers to report anyone who is operating in breach of the legislation,” he added.
