That minicab driver has a picture of King Griffin the backhander by his bedside.

I had the misfortune to meet him one night, if anyone thought Walter Mitty was a fictional character, then think again.

@teninchwheels Would it be fair for an apple seller to have a publically funded stall on the high street while the orange seller is banned?

Taxi Company Makes Bus Lane U-Turn

Managers at a private hire minicab firm which told its drivers to ignore the law banning them from bus lanes have now changed their minds.

The chairman of Addison Lee, John Griffin, had told his drivers he would pay the fines - since then around 800 tickets have been issued.

The company believes the ban is unfair as it allows black cabs to use bus lanes but not private hire firms.

It is now asking staff to stay out of the lanes until the outcome of its judicial review, which has been brought forward to July.

John Griffin said in a statement, "Addison Lee remains totally opposed to the current bus lane legislation, which is both unfair and discriminatory. However, now we have achieved our goals of bringing forward the Judicial Review and bringing the issue to public debate, we feel we have made our point."

Mr Griffin added that they are "confident" they will overturn the legislation.
