Thug jailed for £30 taxi driver robberyA ROBBER who stole £30 after a cord was placed round the neck of a terrified taxi driver has been jailed for four years.
David Brunger, 21, climbed into the cab with two friends at Faversham train station and demanded to be taken to Selling.
But as the cabbie drove into Selling Road one of the robbers pulled up the handbrake on the car. The driver had a cloth placed around his neck and was told to hand over his takings.
The gang made off with £30, a Maidstone Crown Court heard on Wednesday.
Brunger pleaded guilty to robbery.
He had initially denied being in the taxi but was later linked by forensic evidence.
Police are still looking for the other two attackers.
The attack happened at midnight on August 10 last year.
Detective Constable Andrew Payne said: "This was a violent attack against a man who was simply trying to earn a living.
"Although unhurt, he was left very shaken. It is right Brunger must now serve a prison sentence."
Brunger, of Langley, Road, Sittingbourne, also pleaded guilty to burglary in Joy Lane, Whitstable, last November when he stole an MP3 player.
He was jailed for 32 months for robbery and 16 months for burglary, to run consecutively.
