Readers of this site will know we broke the story of Operation Crush, last year. We know for a fact that a Tameside based MANCHESTER fleet owner is heavily implicated and is the focus of the Police operation. Last Friday a friend of this fleet owner received three months imprisonment and will perhaps be reading this in Strangeways.

Steve Strong who owns two Tameside Hacks was sentenced last Friday. The two hacks he owns, have had there Licenses suspended. It is expected they will be revoked upon his release from prison.

The tragedy of this is that anybody who knows Steve, insists he is a great guy, he is reported to be a keen amateur boxer and a friend of Ricky Hatton. Steve is also known for his charity work associated with Hatton and the boxing fraternity.

I bet it is squeaky bum time, for a certain Manchester Fleet owner.

He doesn't need to inform the council that he has changed ownership/transferred until a max of 14 days of change, so maybe the letter is in the post.

And how could any new owner be deemed to not be 'fit and proper', unless of course they are a crook as well? :?

Can a licence be transferred if it is already suspended?

No it cannot be transferred whilst suspended. It cannot be revoked either without giving the Proprietor a chance to make representations either. Hence the current situation.

Interestingly, the Company at the centre of this operation is a Ltd company and the directors are, as yet, unchanged. Companies House is getting a lot of hits however, people waiting for announced changes.

My point is that the 14 days notice means that the transfer could have been arranged before the court case, or for that matter after it if they tell porkies and say it was before.

In that instant I don't believe the council could justify any sanction like suspension, as that suspension would be against an innocent owner. If Parliament have wanted councils to have powers to refuse a transfer (to a 'fit and proper' person) then they wouldn't have passed the 14 days provision.

Of course the council could refuse to re-license, but then the question will arise as to why they are refusing a 'fit and proper' person.

As the partner of Steve Strong I felt compelled to write and point out the following:

1) you got the wrong day (not that important but the first factual inaccuracy)
2) You got the sentence wrong. It was NOT 3 months
3) The two hackney vehicles are in fact jointly owned and licensed to myself and Steve, one of which has been from the day we bought it (over 4 years ago), the second became a joint venture last year.
4) The hackney licences have NOT been suspended. One of the cabs had the plates removed yesterday as there was a problem with the brakes, it has been in the garage today and now the plates are back on the vehicle (within 24 hours).

I am not sure of the source of your information but am assuming it is based on hearsay as it certainly isn't factual. I suggest before posting in future you take the time to find out the correct information, or get down from your soapbox!

And finally Steve certainly won't be reading this "gossip" from Strangeways, he is spending his time in a much more constructive manner coaching fitness to other inmates. The only true fact about your blog is that Steve is a great guy, who dedicates a lot of his time to the local community coaching boxing.

Remind me please what he is in jail for?

Please forgive me for any slight inaccuracies in my original post. Do not blame T.D.O, I am responsible, I posted the item. You say I only got one thing right, which was that ?

1 The criminals name
2. The criminals Licensing authority
3. The number of license he holds
4. The prison in which he now resides
5. The offence for which he was sentenced
6. The area in which he used to reside and the sport he purports to represent.

Those six points aside, it would appear the original post was a matter of fiction.

Please tell us what, was the length of sentence ?. Was it greater than that stated ?

You take some pride in the fact your pal will not be reading this blog inside, he will devote his time to teaching other inmates how to fight better. I would suggest this is not something which will generate a lot of sympathy.

You do not deny his connection to a former Pro Fighter from the Hattersley housing estate in Tameside. Hattersley is a small overspill housing estate, everybody knows everybody else. The boxer know the man featured in the following Newspaper article, does your pal know him as well ?. I bet he does.

Blogs like this keep the authors identity confidential. You however have just told the world that your name and address is freely available on Tamesides public register, re; your friends two plates.

Hi Tom

Firstly, I did not mention boxing was being taught to prisoners, I said fitness - sit ups, press ups etc, I am relieved that this will not generate sympathy, as this was never the intention.

The sentence was in fact less than you stated.

My reason for posting was not to join in with your hearsay and speculation but to point out that many of your stated points were inaccurate. And that I think it is important that if you are going to post information, then you should make it your priority to ensure you get it correct.

I also don't think it is true to say that everybody from one estate knows each other!!!

As for the fact my name and adress is available freely on the Tameside public register, I'm not sure of your point there. I have nothing to hide.

Anyway Tom, yes I will forgive your inaccuracies, everyone makes mistakes at times! Although I wouldn't call the fact you have stated 2 hackney licences have been suspended and will be revoked a "slight inaccuracy", when this information is fiction. I hope if nothing else you will check your information in future before posting.

I doubt I will be posting on here again, as my intention was to clear up the matter that the licences had been supsended, when they haven't.

Best Wishes :)
