Licensing jurisdiction resides with Manchester and there are no Terminal buildings or taxi ranks that encroach into any other licensed area.

There are various rumours going around why Airportcarz failed to have their contract renewed. Personally I have no idea as to why? I only know that they are definitely packing up on Sunday and all activity inside the terminals will cease. Tulsablue has confirmed that PCS executive hire won the new contract but I was informed yesterday that the contract was in dispute. Whether or not the Airport has scope to sue PCS for breach of contract if they do renege is another matter entirely? We have no way of knowing the current state of the contract negotiations but one would assume no contract has yet been signed if PCS are considering pulling out. On the other hand it could be the case that any conjecture surrounding this issue is unfounded and the contract is already in place and PCS will start their operation as soon as humanly possible.

Once Airportz have gone you should see some visible signs of the new contractor appearing in the terminal buildings by way of a desk or direct line and probably some advertising of the firm.

Until that time we shall just have to wait and see what transpires.

Regards

JD

I wonder if the Manchester hacks have there thinking caps on, and they could swamp the airport and take over

This would just make it a longer walk for the passengers inbound who have already booked onward travel, a point the hacks do not seem to grasp  or have any plans to capture this very large market which suits me just fine :D

Just been sent this email by a colleague from the airport.

Dear colleague

The current concession at Manchester Airport - Airport Carz - ends at midnight on 31st January 2009. Unfortunately, we have had to review our service provision from that date and whilst such review is ongoing hackney cabs will be the sole suppliers of passenger transport services on the forecourts.

During our review period we would remind you that hackney cabs can be contacted and pre-booked via mantax on 0161 230 3333 or email bookings@mantax.co.uk for advance bookings, they do take payments by credit card in advance and these should be used in addition to any private hire companies you may use.

Dragging up a very old thread here.

There is some link to the more current thread here, viewtopic.php?f=5&t=20311

It seems PCS did not fair to well in the operation they were running out of Manchester Airport, they went onto liquidation as PCS Shuttles Ltd owing over a 1 million pound to various creditors.

In particular they owed manchester Airport PLC £53,375.47
