Yorkshire LOs are asking racegoers to be on the lookout for drivers picking up where they shouldn't.

I wonder if they are thinking what I'm thinking?

Mark Wilson, the secretary of the York Private Hire Association, said: "There will be drivers coming into York who are not supposed to be here, but hopefully we can spot them.

I'm saying nothing

Yesterday I spotted just outside the racecourse, never seen it before so it must have just been built, it a ruddy great watch tower above the race course taxi rank, facing the main road, high up and set back into the tree area, just like something you see at the American prisons or even Abu Ghraib jail in Iraq

Thats one thing we never suffer with unlicensed cars.

A few of the local drivers (part-timers) try it on in other areas, but in LDC never been a problem.

But until we had a new licensing officer a few years ago, we were really in the dark ages.

No geography test, no limits on taxis or PH, no meters, no tarrif table, basically no nothing.

Thankfully LDC aren't in the dark ages anymore, but I think you have missed the point of the thread.

It was a dig at an ex member, abiet a light hearted one. :D
